This is lovely. Beautifully written. However, a bit like Mott I feel for her slightly. I wouldn't expect her to sleep on her pallet; I would want her right there when I wake, her mouth ready to serve me again! Nonetheless, I do understand what you say in your reply to Mott. Just a different mindset.

Great little story,  including the sleeping pallet. She knows her place and his needs. If he wants her in the bed, he'll let her know.

A lovely story. I was surprised when the story exposed the sleeping pallet. Cee is desperate for his approval and attention. She has but momentary flashes where she gets the emotion she is longing for so deeply. Perhaps because the moments are fleeting at best, their value becomes immense.
